Surgical Weight Loss Specialists is the surgical weight loss practice of Arthur Glasgow, M.D. and Adam Glasgow, M.D., a father and son team of board certified surgeons. We strive to make consulting us, having surgery, or getting follow-up care as easy as possible for our patients and their families.

After extensive experience with general and laparoscopic surgery, we decided to concentrate on weight loss surgery using the Lap-BandŽ. In November 2005, we started doing laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding for people who are morbidly obese. Since then, we have treated over 300 patients, many of whom have had substantial and sustained weight loss.

We believe that follow-up is essential for successful weight loss and we follow our patients closely. We see them every 2 weeks for the first 8-10 weeks after surgery and then monthly until they stabilize at their desired weight. On average, 2 years after surgery our patients have lost 60% of the excess weight.

Surgical Weight Loss Specialists is the only surgical weight loss practice in Massachusetts that exclusively uses the Lap-BandŽ to accomplish substantial and sustained weight loss for morbid obesity. We are now doing 15-20 of these operations a month. Based on our early and continuing success, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) accredited us as a Level 2-New Accredited Adult Bariatric Center.
